Who Am I ?
How it started
The crazy idea of a colourful seamstress!
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a needle in my hand, whether for embroidering, crocheting or knitting, thread work has been a family affair! After using up my mother’s sewing machine, I got my first machine at the age of 12. It has never left me and still sits in my house as a plan Z in case of problems, along with all the cousins I have acquired over the years. From that point on, my love affair with sewing was born.
Once I had finished my scientific secondary education, I set out with the idea of finding a job while keeping my hobby in its place, in the background.
After the first 3 years of not being able to find happiness elsewhere than in the sewing room at home, I chose to put my hobby and my passion first. So I left my native Charleroi for the capital and one of its fashion schools: Haute École Francisco Ferrer.
During my studies, my desires became clearer: I want to make other people’s dreams come true, to start with a drawing or an idea and make it come true. I want to be a technician, not a creator! And it was during my internship with a young freelance that I discovered my path: being my own boss. And “Oh Fil Deleau” was born.
When I finished my studies, I passed my management and joined the ULB incubator, the Start.LAB. I wanted to make clothes accessible to all body types. I finally became a designer but not only. I also want to pass on what I have learnt and raise awareness of the craft by organising various courses and workshops.
Today, I am still at Start.LAB, I moved to Brussels and “Oh Fil Deleau” is evolving. I create, I draw, I make patterns, I sew, I repair and I also give classes. Fun, diversity and a dream that is coming true step by step, what more could you ask for?
My mission
Oh Fil Deleau listens to you and respects your diversity. I explain to you in a slightly pedagogical way what is possible or not in what you expect and, together, we find solutions. I try to limit my environmental impact by using my scraps or having them recycled. Whenever possible, I collaborate with local, companies and suppliers in Europe. Most importantly, I put my ideals at your service to make your wishes come true !
